“He was an earthquake. He was ice and the muddy slick left behind by a hurricane…”
When Lea Sinclair became involved with Terry Chase, she never anticipated the cost of his control. With her healing disrupted and her safety violated, Lea takes a chance by reconnecting with her new friend, Evan, to regain a sense of stability.
Terry’s violent confrontation backfires as Lea discovers her own strength. Accepting Terry’s final choice, Lea embarks on a journey of healing, finally opening her heart to the possibilities of love and renewal in Winter’s Turn.

Becca Robertson –
Of Linda Fifer’s three novels, this one clearly pulls in the natural world as a character. Starwater Falls and the resident eagles become mood shapers and become a metaphor for changes in life. As a fellow naturalist, I appreciated this!
The primary theme of being stuck in life and then finding out how to move forward will ring true for every reader, and especially every female reader. So many women think they “don’t have a right to their own feelings” as Evan says, is such a simple statement and yet so very profound. The two main characters realize that grief cannot take over, cannot become a default, cannot become more important than wonderful memories. Letting ghosts show up before anything else, whether positive or negative ghosts, can usurp your life.
As always, Linda’s strong female characters triumph, and she takes us along on the journey.
